The One Word
One Word is the source of bliss,
The other word, of misery and pain;
One Word shatters all chains,
The other is a noose
Around your neck.
K.S.S., p. 93:6
Between Shabd and shabd
The difference is vast;
In the primal Shabd
Be forever absorbed.
The Shabd through which
The Lord is met,
The practice of that Shabd adopt.
K.S.S., p. 92:4
'Word, Word,' say all,
But that Word
Has nor form nor shape,
It is beyond
The reach of speech;
See it, realize it
Within your own body.
K.S.S., p. 92:5
'Word, Word,' say all,
But that true Word
Has neither hands nor feet.
One Word is the panacea
For all maladies;
Other words, the cause
Of suffering and pain
K.S.S., p. 93:7
The Shabd I speak of
Is the primal Shabd;
Each moment stay absorbed
In that Shabd.
In the end the inner tree
Will thrive and bear fruit,
The outer roots will wither
And become dry.
K.S.S., p. 93:9
Such is the nature of Shabd,
Like a magnet it pulls the soul.
Though a million means
One may adopt,
There is no salvation
Without Shabd.
K.S.S., p. 93:16
Read the book that contains
Neither letters nor ink,
Neither digits nor form;
Play cymbals without hands,
And without feet dance.
See that inaccessible home
Suffused with light
But without a lamp.
Let the floodgates
Of Shabd open that you merge
In the Being
Who is supreme.
