He Is What He Is

If I call Him heavy,
I fear I am wrong;
If I call Him light,
It may be a lie.
How can I say I know God,
For who has seen Him
With the physical eyes?

K.G., p. 13:1

If I have seen Him,
How to describe?
If I try to describe Him,
Who will believe?
The Lord is like
What He himself is;
Adore Him,
Sing his praises with joy.

K.G., p. 14:2

Keep the Wonder
That you have seen
Concealed within your heart,
For it is beyond the reach
Of Vedas and Koran,
And no one will believe you
If you try to speak.

K.G., p. 14:3

The Lord's abode
Is hard to reach,
Yet proceed
At your own speed;
Softly but firmly
Take each step,
You'll surely attain
Your home of bliss.

K.G., p. 14:4

If I say He is one,
It is not so;
If 1 say He is two,
It is slander;
From his own knowledge
Proclaims Kabir:
He, the Lord, is
What He is.

Bijak, Sakhi 120

The bundle of nectar
I've brought down
From my head,
But when I say
He is one,
Men recoil and claim
He is two, He is four.

Bijak, Sakhi 122

Kabir, when you arrive,
When you reach and become
Truly immortal,
Only then may you speak;
Your boat is still
In the turbulent sea —
Who knows what
The next wave may bring.

K.G., p. 14:5

I have realized the Perfect One,
Pleasure and pain
Are left behind;
The account with Kal is closed;
I have met my Lord,
Whom I find
Ever with me.

K.S.S., p. 110:40

I merged in the One,
Through the One I became
One with all;
Now all are mine,
I am in all —
Other than the One
There is none.

K.S.S., p. 113:69

From water was snow formed,
Into water it has
Melted away;
What it once was
It has become again —
Nothing more
Is left to say.

K.G., p. 10:17
