The Final Accomplishment

Kabir says that the practice of Naam is the highest spiritual pursuit. The devotee of Naam need not indulge in rites, rituals, austerities, penances or the practice of breath control, for they are of no value on the path of God-realization. But Naam can only be had from a perfect Master, and only through his grace can one conquer the obstacles of the mind, the senses and the five passions, and attain everlasting union with the Lord.

O mind, the day you started
The repetition of the Lord's Name,
Nothing else remained to be done.
What worth yoga and oblations,
What value penance and austerities,
What use almsgiving
If one has not realized
The Lord's Name.

Lust and anger were tenacious foes,
I destroyed them through my Master's grace.
Says Kabir: I have annihilated
All doubts and delusions,
And attained union
With my almighty and everlasting Lord.
