The Treasure Map

Most religions claim to know who God is and how to reach Him. Kabir points out that they are regarding the negative power or Kal as God since they have no knowledge of the Supreme Being. Brahma, mind, karmas and maya or illusion are all different aspects of this negative power and are all mistaken for the Supreme Being by different religious groups. Kabir goes on to say that people know nothing of their own soul, let alone their origin or the Supreme Being. When someone realizes the Lord, he sees Him present in each particle of the creation; but this realization can come only through Shabd. Kabir here describes the Word as the bijak, the treasure map that leads to God, the treasure hidden within the human body.

The first wise is not the Wise One;
The second wise no one knows;
The third wise preys on the wise;
The fourth wise drives the soul
From place to place;
The fifth wise none is aware of;
The sixth wise beguiles one and all.
If you know the seventh Wise
You will see Him in the entire creation;
You will know the One
All Vedas and scriptures
Point towards.

As the treasure map leads
To the secret of hidden treasure,
So does Shabd reveal the Lord;
But only a rare one knows it.

Bijak, Ramaini 37
Ek sayān sayān na hoi
