The Colour of Naam

Once the soul is absorbed in the Lord's Name it becomes impervious to the attractions of the world. The Name washes away passions and worldly attachments, purifies the mind and saturates the soul in the rich hue of divine love. Kabir says that only this colour is lasting; all others fade in time.

I am dyed in the hue of the Lord's Name,
In a hue that can never fade;
There is no colour in the world
That can vie with the colour of God!

I am dyed in the hue of Naam,
A hue that can never fade.

All other colours are washed away
By the gorgeous colour of Naam.
The soul once dyed in the Lord's hue
Will never lose its luster.

I am dyed in the hue of Naam,
The hue that never fades.

The Lord himself is the colour
That has suffused me, says Kabir.
His glow will stay forever;
All the colours of the world
Will turn pale and fade away.
