The Insane

Ghelan ame ghelan-re

Mad? Yes, I am insane. But the Love of my Lord through madness I gained.

All through the ages past, of Truth I was unaware; my mind remained bound by Maya’s vicious snare.

I was tossing about in the world’s stormy sea, when through the storm, the Lord Himself came unto me.

I am, indeed, insane, in the Lord’s Love, though; the joy of my madness, can the world ever know?

The bliss for which in vain even gods and angels pray, in that bliss this mad one does revel night and day.

God alone in His Love turned me mad, I am sure; and through Love’s frenzy, made me bright and pure.

People keep branding me as mad, time and again; but ever the Lord performs all tasks of such insane.

The pleasures of the world the mad find full of pain; can such lovers ever die? Beyond death they remain.1

This mad one in her craze, nothing else does she know, save to love and serve the Saints, and at Their feet to bow.

The Love of her dear Lord, in madness has Mira gained: nothing remains to be done, her object she has attained.
