The Ten – Hymn to Kirpal

I

I heard of You and my thirst began, saw Your portrait, there I knew in my heart, You are the One Whose secret I must decrypt1.

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

II

I went to sleep at night, knowing that if You exists You must give me Your Naam3. Knowing that when I awake I cannot live without It any longer. Knowing that, if so, I will never be born again4.

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

III

Your Grace was endless, Your Naam is perpetually vibrating within me now5.

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

IV

The nearer I came to You6, the more did You manifest Yourself to me7, though I was not worth it8.

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

V

Now Naam is with me, each day and each night, at each hour9. It is beautiful to see that each seeker after Truth becomes blessed with Your Naam by You10.

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

VI

Brothers and sisters came, all received Your Naam11, the world thinks I’m a fool12, but what do I care about the world?

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

VII

The world is without scruples13, the disciples do not see You anymore14, they do not hear Your language without words15, because they devote themselves to the world and preferably hear themselves16, instead of listening to Your Naam17.

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

VIII

Gurumukhs and even Khalsas18, all believe only in themselves19. This is the time without Angad and Gobind20! But who believes us21? You keep me very much by Your side22, we both are inseparable. Even Par Brahm cannot separate us!

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

IX

From Your lap You gave me a sister, she carried Pind as a child23. Those who are sent by You receive Your Naam2. My brother Kabir came, You Kirpal, in Thy bounteousness were dressed in man-shape and everybody called Kirpal Singh24! Ages for ages, but still doubts entertain their hearts25.

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

X

Your Mansarovar was destined for everybody to receive Your blessing26. The time put a vesture of thorns around it27. Instead of sailing with Your ship28, their request are cruises29.

Everybody loves, but nobody notices how long the way becomes30! Even those, who cry, lose their good destiny31.

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

XI

Oh Kirpal, have Mercy! The 14 could not make it32, the Bhagats failed anyhow33. You said it should be and it became34, the disciples may say it may be and it would become, but the 500 000 are going to forget. Guru Gobind was my teacher, but You are the First One!

Sach Khand, Alakh, Agam and Anami are35 the steps of the disciples, Nanak resides above.

Nanak says: Sat Kartar36. But Your Home is, before it became, You are beyond Naam37. The creation with its divisions is to small to comprise You.

Your greatness is beyond all worlds, beyond the nine blessings of Amrit, beyond Anami and the abode of Guru Nanak.

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

XII

The Highest Manifestation of Your Word is the five38. The place furthest away from Your kingdom is the one39. Anami has neither Light nor Sound and is the eight. Nanak knows the nine. But Your Home is, before it was. You taught me to persist before thousands, this is the only purpose of my birth, as disciple in this time40.

Yet in former times, yesterday, today I hear the Music2, which was always part of my soul.

You Kirpal alone are! You were and will be for all times41.
