Warmest greetings from Jaimal Singh to my obedient son, Babu Sawan Singh, and to Basant Singh, Harwant Singh, Babu Gulab Singh, Babu Gajja Singh, Chanan Singh, Narain Singh, Diwan Singh, Aya Singh, Dr Ishar Das Ji, and all the others.

Dear son

Your letter was received, and I was very happy to read it. I fully appreciate your situation. The corrugated iron sheets used for the roof should have been tightly fixed with strong, heavy iron bolts. Have such work done under your personal supervision. The work on the iron sheets should be done while you oversee it yourself, my son.

Whatever is to happen, happens according to the will of the Supreme Lord. Without Him no one can do anything. Have firm faith in this, my son. Man can do nothing: he can neither increase nor decrease anything. Anami Lord, the Supreme Lord, has assumed the human form to direct worldly affairs on the material plane. This is the Divine Law. Whatever good is in one’s karma, or is to be given to an individual, comes through the human form. Just as whatever is lost due to karma, that is, when something is to be taken away from an individual – more than what the karmas allow is not to be given – that, too, is snatched away through the human form. So do not have any apprehension, my son, no one can ever erase what is in our destiny. Remain happy with your destiny: neither will you receive more, nor will less be given to you. You will receive only as much as is the will of the compassionate Anami Lord. So remain happy within that.

Bhajan and Simran is our Real Work, my son. This will always remain with us, as it is the Satguru’s gift. This gift will grow, and never diminish. Every other honour, right up to the gods’ abode or paradise, is unreal. It is subject to destruction and also to creation again. So to gain or not to gain it is the same, because an honour which is first given and then snatched away means nothing. But this is how the affairs of the world go on. So what is there in high distinction? If received, it is good, and if not, still better. There is nothing in this to be sorry about. Through His Grace and Mercy, the Lord Himself has shown you the way to His Real Home. You have found the Anami Lord’s Home, which is beyond everything. So now work to achieve it and remain firm in your Love and devotion. Have firm faith that one day, in this very body, He will take you to the Real Home. Listen to the sound of the Shabd Dhun with Love and devotion, and with the pull of the higher mind focus the surat and nirat into it. Discarding the desires of the gross mind, listen to the Shabd Dhun every day, even if you do so only for a short while. Everyone there is urged to do his Bhajan and Simran every day.

Gajja Singh has written a letter inquiring when he should send the books. I have told him to send them in Asuj so that the box or the bags they are in may not get wet lying outside in the rain. For the rest, we will do as you write.

Warm regards to Chanan Singh. Your postcard arrived, and I was happy to read it. Continue with your Bhajan and Simran every day. If you want leave, ask Babu Sawan Singh Ji. Take the leave if there is little to do at present. Write again, my son, and let me know if the leave you request is for fifteen days, or more, or less.

Make a request to Babu Ji and tell him what is really on your mind. He will himself then let you know. As for me, you are always by my side, my son, because the Satguru, by assuming the Shabd form, is always with every disciple. But He remains hidden, though always by the side of His loving devotee. So have no worry, stay within the will of the Satguru, and do your work. Grace and Mercy will always be upon you.

Warmest greetings from Bibi to you, her true brother. Best regards to all and everybody from Bibi and from all the Sadhus and everyone else at the Dera.

Note: I had supervised the construction of the artillery barracks at Rawalpindi. Due to a hurricane, two or three corrugated iron sheets were blown away. An antagonistic English Sub-Divisional Officer complained to the C.R.S., so I made my plea to Hazur, to which this was the reply. – Sawan Singh
