31 August 1903

Warmest greetings from Jaimal Singh to my obedient son, Babu Sawan Singh Ji, and to Basant Singh Ji, Harwant Singh Ji, Babu Gulab Singh Ji, Dr Ishar Das Ji, and Chanan Singh Ji.

Dear son

I have given Naam to Rajinder Singh whom you had sent here. He has taken a copy of Anurag Sagar with him. Today, 31 August, Narain Singh has been sent by train from here to your place. He will arrive there on 1 September. I had asked Narain Singh to stay on to do some work at the Dera. The rains have been heavy, and the houses needed to be repaired every day. Narain Singh did very good seva, but now I have sent him to you. The stone has been set in the main Satsang hall today. With the Grace of the compassionate Hazur, all is well here. One Natha Singh has departed from this world.

You are all reminded to do your Bhajan and Simran every day, because only now, in the human form alone, can the work of Bhajan and Simran be done. It cannot be done in the forms or any other species, because we can find the Lord only in the human form. Only through finding the Perfect Path, meeting the Perfect Satguru, and generating a complete Love and devotion within – never should any disrespect or negative tendency enter the mind – can the goal be attained. There is no honour higher than Naam, my son. You have found the perfect way and also found its whole secret. Protect yourself from the illusions of this enemy, the mind, because its desires are all false. The power of the mind's desires and illusions has tied up the whole universe within the walls of pain and pleasure. Stay within the Satguru's will, my son, and listen to the Shabd Dhun with Love and devotion. By listening to It again and again, getting purified, and holding fast to the Dhun, you will reach the very Home of the Lord. Have firm faith in this, my son.

Warm regards from Bibi to you, her true brother. Best wishes also to all the other Satsangis from Bibi and the Sadhus at the Dera. May the Grace and Mercy of the compassionate Hazur be upon all of you.

Listen to the Shabd Dhun with Love and Devotion because It is the creator and destroyer of the entire universe. Unlimited powers and miracles are vested in the Shabd Dhun. With Grace and compassion, It reverberates day and night as an unbroken melody. When you focus on It, It pulls up the attention immediately. What a pity, then, that one would leave aside such a bounty, such True Bliss, for the artificial and useless allurements of the self-conceited mind! To follow the illusions of the enemy, the mind, is a grave, senseless, careless, and foolish act. Never have we given a thought to restraining the mind. So think now, and hold fast to the Shabd Dhun. The affairs of the world will never end – why do you then waste time in the musings and agitations of the mind?
