Lots of Love from Jaimal Singh to my obedient son, Babu Sawan Singh.

Dear son

Your letter has been received and I was delighted to read your news. I had earlier written a letter about how things were over here, which has probably reached you by now. Since your new house is now ready, you should definitely move into it because my coming now is doubtful. In the Shabd form, I am with you in every respect. Of course, if you get leave for four days, by all means please do come yourself.

The news from here is that the construction of the roof is to start on 27 February, so now it will be finished soon. All the large and small doors are now ready. Also the ten girders have been set in the walls at a height of seventeen feet and three inches. Each girder is twenty-two feet long, six inches wide, and twelve inches high. There was an extra twenty-three-foot long girder which was not used but set aside. In my previous letter I had asked you to send 200 or 300 rupees through Chanan Singh – the money is definitely needed here. I had 400 rupees that were left with me by some Satsangis – that has been spent. An extra 200 rupees were spent by borrowing from Parmanand. Additionally, ten or twelve beams, at 4 or 4 ½ rupees each, will soon be needed. The work will now proceed only when the money is received. We have four carpenters who work at 7 annas each per day, three at 6 annas each, and one at 5 – a total or eight carpenters. Of the masons, three work at 7 annas each per day, and two at 5 annas each. Eight labourers work at 3 annas per day. The carpenters and masons take all their meals at the Dera, while the labourers eat one meal a day on their own. On Sundays, the labourers also take all their meals at the Dera. So now I have described to you the whole situation. The cross-ties for the roof have been placed at a height of eighteen feet and three inches – that is the height at which the roof is being constructed. Three brick projections for beams have been constructed at the level of the cross-ties. So if the roof for a veranda is constructed later on, the two roofs will be at the same level, allowing many Satsangis to sit upstairs.

Please do your Bhajan and Simran every day, my son. Always keep in mind that the world is unreal, and unreal also are all its kingships, goods and services. From our body on, everything is unreal. All your work is to be done with that realisation in mind. Just as in a dream everything is done as if it were real, but on awakening it is found to be unreal, so also the whole business of the world is unreal. You are never to give it your true, deep Love. True Love is to be given to the sound of the Shabd Dhun. Have firm faith in the Satguru’s instructions, that His words are true. While doing your official work, moving around, sitting up or lying down, always mentally continue with your Simran. All worldly and Spiritual work will be done by the compassionate Anami Lord, Radha Swami Ji.

Warm greetings to Basant Singh, Chanan Singh, Babu Gulab Singh, Narain Singh, and Nanak Singh. All are reminded to do Bhajan and Simran every day. Best wishes from Bibi Ji to you, her true brother. Best wishes also to all the others from Bibi and all the Sadhus at the Dera.

My son, the fruit of Inner Darshan has now reached you. I will explain it when you come to visit me. Briefly: when you sit in meditation, be by yourself and remind yourself of the Satguru’s instructions; then start the Simran, and keep the Inner Attention on the Satguru’s form – you will receive darshan. Then firmly fix your Inner Hearing and Seeing faculties into the music of the Shabd Dhun – you will receive darshan. But your Love and devotion must be full and complete.

Send a reply soon.
