From Jaimal Singh: Warm greetings to my obedient son, Babu Sawan Singh.
Your letter and postcard were received, giving me your news. I was happy and gratified to read them. The reply to your telegram is that whenever you send money home, there is no need to ask me because you already have my permission. You may send it as you like. Ma Ji has the gracious blessing of Hazur; she will get well when the karmic debt has been paid off. You have written that your [budgeted] work this year will amount to only ten or twelve thousand rupees, that this is not enough. [The income of a military engineer in those days would have consisted of a basic salary supplemented by an annual allowance calculated in proportion to the budgeted work allotted to him to supervise during the year.]
Don’t worry – if there is not enough, do more Bhajan and Simran. Keep your mind turned towards the Will of Hazur.
You are all asking me to visit your place, but it is difficult for me to come now, because I am neither able to walk in the mountains, nor free to leave here. For the rest, it is up to the will of Hazur.
I have no idea if I can come, but if he sends me, I will not hesitate. When a disciple’s Love is deep enough, He will send me even if I have no legs or hands. In any case, you are always with me.
A very large bandhara was held at Agra. The bandhara here will be held on the full-moon day, Monday, the 18th of Asarh1, Samvat2 1958, that is, 1 July 1901. Your telegram was received but no one could read the name of the person for whom the money had been sent – that’s why you didn’t receive a reply to it. Earlier also you were informed that parshad from the bandhara at Agra had been sent by parcel to Rawalpindi railway station; the freight charges were prepaid. Ghee is sold here for eight annas a kilogram. It will be purchased and dispatched to Rawalpindi railway station, so please send Chanan Singh there to collect it.

Realise the importance of keeping this time always in mind, because now at every moment the Shabd Dhun is resounding in your body. This is the Sound which is the Creator of all. It has brought forth everything and by giving support has made all and everything exist. This Sound, the life and breath of all, the maker and prescriber of the order of each and everything – the regions Agam, Alakh, and Sach Khand, and the radiant and earthly creations below them – is calling you in the form of Shabd Dhun within your body. Keep your Love and affection, the higher mind and the faculties of surat and nirat alert to the sound of the Dhun within. Lots of Grace and Mercy is being showered upon you, my son. My thoughts stay with you constantly, to know when you will attach your attention with Love to the Dhun of the Shabd – because the Lord is now about to bless you with the bliss of the Divine Melody.
