Lots of Love from Jaimal Singh to my obedient son, Babu Sawan Singh.

May the compassionate Hazur in His Grace and Mercy always keep you with Him; may He bestow upon you the Shabd Dhun, His Eternal Real Form, and grant you Love and devotion in surat, nirat and the higher mind, in all three. May His gracious Mercy grant you the bliss within the Shabd Dhun.

I received two postcards from you on the same day and was happy to read them. When you get leave with the compassionate Hazur’s pleasure, please proceed directly to Agra. If you do not get leave, it is still His will and remain happy in that as well.

He is always by your side and will do what He considers to be good. With Love and devotion, keep the Inner Faculties and the higher mind always attached to the Shabd Dhun, and remain content at whichsoever place He keeps you. All work is His work; remain happy wherever He keeps you, and take on whatever work you do as the Satguru’s work – do not keep your self in it. Instil it firmly in your mind – this idea should never leave the mind – that the body, mind, wealth, and the inner faculties, the eyes, mouth, nose, ears, hands, feet, all, everything, each and every article that exists in the world, belongs to the Satguru:

I do not exist.

Look upon everything you do as the Satguru’s work; do only that which is appropriate.

This advice, the directive I have written above, should never leave your mind at any time. Keep these words firmly in the mind while doing your work, and also during Simran and while listening to the Shabd Dhun. You will then certainly receive the bliss of the Shabd Dhun. Always remember these three points: Do not feel elated even if you receive the kingship of fourteen realms, because it would be false and transitory – if you love false things, you will be deceived. If such a sovereignty is taken away, do not feel depressed, because He Who gave it took it away. It belonged to Him and it was unreal.

However much respect or criticism someone may offer, neither be pleased with the respect and praise nor offended by the criticism. Always remain happy and content wherever the Lord is pleased to place you. When our attachments do not touch the mind, and the mind always remains in balance, then the boon of entering Sach Khand by way of the Shabd Dhun comes daily through the Satguru’s Word. Grace and Mercy especially are upon you all the time. Keep listening to the Shabd Dhun every day with the Inner Faculties of surat and nirat.

Please convey my Love to Basant Singh, Chanan Singh, Babu Gajja Singh Ji, Babu Gulab Singh Ji, Narain Singh, Diwan Singh, and Sher Singh of the army battery. All of them are urged to do their Bhajan and Simran every day. Sher Singh wrote a postcard to me in which he asked for Hazur Swami Ji’s books. Please tell him that I will get them when I go to Agra. Convey my Radha Swami to Sher Singh. This is the reply to his postcard; no other reply will be sent.

The crystallised sugar – around 38 kilograms in weight-has arrived here. It is of very good quality. Please let me know the cost: how much was paid for it? It was received on 24 May; the freight charges came to eight annas. We have also received a nice-looking sedan chair, as well as three cotton cushions. They arrived undamaged, except for a sizeable tear on one side at the bottom, and a small one on the other side. No other damage was done. We have not paid anything for the sedan chair. Both articles were received at Beas railway station on 24 May. I will leave for Agra on 29 or 30 May. If you get leave, bring money for your own expenses; I have plenty of money for myself. There are no other expenses, my son, you have already done enough seva. I am very pleased and satisfied with you.

Best wishes from Bibi to you, her true brother. She says:

Dear brother, I am very pleased with the seva you have done by sending the sedan chair. It is a very nice chair.

Pritam Singh sent me a postcard in which he wrote that, if permitted, he would go to Khairagali to be with his ‘brother.’ I told him that he should first write a letter to you and then go if he is invited. I do not know what he will end up doing.

Warm regards from Bibi and all the Sadhus at the Dera to you and the others.

When you sit in meditation, do Simran for a quarter-hour, and also keep your attention towards the sound of the Shabd Dhun. Then, slowly and gently, keep focusing the attention into the sound of the Dhun within. The Inner Faculties of surat and nirat will not then allow the mind to stray outside.
