19 September 1901

Warmest greetings from Jaimal Singh to my obedient son, Babu Sawan Singh.

I received your postcard and was happy to read it. Regarding your request that I come to Khairagali on 20 September, I am unable to come under any circumstances. Perhaps in the winter I may come to Rawalpindi. Please inquire and let me know when the troops will arrive there in October. Perhaps at that time I will let you know whether or not I can come.

Up to the 19th no letter has been received from Bachint Singh Ji at Mehmansinghwala. What could be the reason? Write to him immediately and tell him that he should come and return the shoes himself; I will give him the fare both ways. I had only one pair of shoes to wear, which Bachint Singh borrowed, so now I have no shoes for my feet. I do not have any shoes with me – impress this upon him. From Rawalpindi, Ram Chand the treasurer sent a postcard in which he wrote that you had been transferred to Rawalpindi. No date, etc., was given.

Anyway, keep doing your Bhajan and Simran every day whenever you are free. This is a must. At that time, focus the mind, surat and nirat, all three, with feeling and the longing of the higher mind, to listen to the Shabd Dhun and develop Love and devotion for it. At all times, even while working, keep the mind’s attachment in It.

I shall write more fully after your letter arrives.

Chacha Ji sends his greetings to you; all of them wish that Grace and Mercy be upon you. He has also written that he has received 210 rupees and that the rooms are half-ready. He further writes that money should be sent only when he asks for it. Do not send it now. Warm regards from Bibi Ji to you, her true brother. Also warm regards from the Dera residents. Best wishes as well from Bhag Singh and all the servicemen, and from the Satsangis of Wadala and the Satsangis at the Dera. Please convey greetings from Bhag Singh to all the Satsangis who are at Khairagali.
