Warmest greetings from Jaimal Singh to my obedient son, Babu Sawan Singh, and to Basant Singh, Chanan Singh, Babu Gajja Singh Ji, Babu Gulab Singh, Narain Singh, Diwan Singh, Babu Hari Ram, Malik Thakar Das Ji, the elder Bibi Ji, the younger Bibi Ji, and the boy, Gursharan.

May the Grace and Mercy of the compassionate Hazur always be upon all of you. You are all urged to do your Bhajan and Simran every day whenever you are free.

Dear son

Your letter has arrived and I am happy to have read it. Please send the money now so that the building can be constructed. Two hundred rupees are needed soon to purchase the timber and also to pay the wages of the masons and labourers. If you like, you may send 50 rupees in four instalments, but the money should arrive here soon. To receive 100 rupees I have to go to the post office, while 50 rupees can be delivered at Dera – for this reason send 50 rupees each time. We will construct five small rooms, eight feet long by eight feet wide. The veranda will be eight feet wide as well. For the rest, the construction will be done as you wish. We are now stacking the bricks at the Dera, that is to say, we are carting them in from the kiln. The limestone for making quicklime is ready to be fired in the furnace, and the construction of the building will start soon. For the roof, nine-foot beams will be split into two in order to cover the whole room. The doors we instal will be of Panjabi design. They won’t be painted; no red paint is to be used.

Please do your Bhajan and Simran every day, my son, and always keep in mind that we have nothing here that will help us at our last moment. Nothing is going to help the individual except the Satguru, the Shabd Dhun, and His Grace and Mercy. So do your worldly work with the body, and the work of your Real Home with the mind and the Inner Hearing and Seeing faculties of surat and nirat. Do the Satguru’s Real Work, Bhajan and Simran, and do not let the pride of anything enter the mind that it is yours. No! Even if you become the king of the universe, you must realise that

I have no share in it. I am merely a labourer. Whatever is there, belongs to my Master. I am nothing.

The Master’s words should stay uppermost in the mind all the time:

I am nothing. I am nothing. I am nothing.

Simran should continue in the mind all the time, and when at work, the Satguru’s form also should always remain engraved in the mind. This business of the world has been given to you as to a servant; it is like a dream. It is your great good fortune that you have found the way to reach Sach Khand. The Satguru will one day take you there. So, leaving the self aside, make your refuge firm in him. Every day, whenever you are free, try to listen to the sound of the Shabd Dhun and do so with Love and devotion.

Best wishes from Bibi to you, her dear brother; Bibi’s best wishes also to all the other Satsangis.

Warm regards from all the Sadhus at the Dera and from all the other Satsangis to you, Babu Ji, and to all the other Satsangis there. I have not written much as I have no free time.
