Lots of Love from Jaimal Singh to my obedient son, Babu Sawan Singh.

I have received two of your letters: one in Gurumukhi, and another in Urdu to be forwarded to Milkhi Ram. This has been done. In your letter to me you have requested to be forgiven for the lapse – the compassionate Hazur has forgiven you. May His Grace and Mercy always be upon you. I am very pleased with you, my son. I feel that ten days’ leave will be enough: two days at Agra, and two or three days at home, and everything will be done. This will also enable you to have darshan.

Is Ma Ji coming along for darshan? Please let me know immediately. It would be good if Chanan Singh also were to come, but only if your household work could be carried on in his absence. If some other responsible person is there to look after the goods in your residence, then Chanan Singh can also come – the day you get leave, proceed directly to Agra at once – but if no responsible person like Chanan Singh is available, ask him to stay behind to look after the household and the horse. He can then be taken to the bandhara in the month of Asarh1. But first of all let me know, now that you have come to Rawalpindi, which department will you be working in? And also, under some officer or independently? I have understood what is going on back home, that your son is ill. This is His will, my son. Pain and pleasure come and go; He will be merciful.

Do your Bhajan and Simran every day. It would be extremely beneficial to first listen to the very subtle, barely audible sound of the bell, and partly also of the conch, at the point behind the eyes. Directing both the Inner Hearing and Seeing faculties, listen gently and infix this sound of the Shabd Dhun – just as we listen to a distant sound by concentrating on it. Listen! but do not be in a hurry. Listen every day. His Grace and Mercy will always be upon you.

Please consider this brief note in its full import. You have done very well to have acquired the books.

Please convey my Love to Chanan Singh, Babu Gajja Singh, Basant Singh, Malik Thakar Das, Babu Hari Ram, and to the younger Bibi Ji. Bibi’s best wishes to you, her dear brother, and to all the Satsangis. Pritam Singh brought Kishen Singh to my residence at night and, leaving him here himself stole away at eight o’clock the same night. Kishen Singh has been initiated, he is now a Satsangi. He was telling me that the names of both of them have been struck off the service roll. I told him that he should be able to find work elsewhere. He was saying that he has to go to Murree Hills to visit you. Has he come there or not? I repeat: try as far as possible to bring Chanan Singh with you; but if other arrangements are not possible, Chanan Singh should stay behind. However, if some other responsible person is at hand, then definitely bring him along. If not, then it can’t be helped – Chanan Singh will have to stay at your residence to take care of your things. Nihal Singh has arrived at the Dera from your place.
