Sri Wahiguru Ji ki Fateh and lots of Love from Jaimal Singh to my obedient son, Babu Sawan Singh Ji.

May the Grace and Mercy of the compassionate immortal Anami Lord always be upon you.

A parcel of six floor mats has arrived here from Beas railway station. No freight was charged for them. Four of them have been laid out in the durbar hall where they fit in place perfectly, and the remaining two are used for sitting during the Satsang. All six of them are very nice and useful. I am very pleased to have them.

You wrote a second letter that reached me on 2 March. I was very happy to read it.

The compassionate Hazur in His Shabd form is always with you, my son. He is doing whatever is His pleasure. The disciple should not do what his mind dictates, but should remain within the will of the Master. Worldly duties have to be carried out, because when the fruit is ripe, it drops automatically from the tree. Then neither the fruit nor the tree experiences any pain and the ripe fruit is also good for use. But if the unripe fruit is forcibly plucked, the fruit begins to wither and the break in the branch of the tree or vine bleeds. That fruit is of no use. If after being born in a human body one meets a Perfect Satguru, then everything is accomplished. This is the fruit. To stay within the will of the Satguru is the ripening of the fruit; to attend daily to meditation to the best of one’s ability is watering the tree; and to merge in the Shabd Dhun is the ripening and the falling of the fruit. Then no one feels any pain.

So long as the soul has not merged into the Shabd Dhun, and the individual, due to laziness or mental speculations, does neither worldly nor Spiritual Work but instead abandons hearth and home, puts on the garb of a sadhu, begs from house to house to fill his belly, and also talks of renunciation in order to do Bhajan and Simran, he will never gain anything. Such thinking is of no use. The material world and one’s kith and kin – sons, daughters, mother, father, wife, wealth, house, land, shops, mansions, riches, worldly honours – all make up the tree. The mind and the soul are intrinsically attached to them like the fruit to the tree.

When the mind stays within the Satguru’s will and obeys His instructions, then the soul, by loving the Shabd Dhun, takes on the form of the Dhun, and the mind, detaching itself from maya, merges into Kal at Trikuti. Thus the ripened fruit drops by itself and no one feels any pain.

Please do not worry about anything. All your work has now been done. Listen daily to the Shabd Dhun – listen as much as possible. One day you will reach Sach Khand.

Bibi asks whether or not you have eaten the parshad of sugared flour-balls (pinnian). Write if it was any good. Bibi’s best wishes to her brother. Also please convey Bibi’s best wishes to everybody. Warm regards from all the Satsangis at the Dera to Babu Ji. Warm regards to Basant Singh, Chanan Singh, and Babu Mohan Singh. Do your Bhajan and Simran every day; may His Grace and Mercy always be upon all of you.

Dear son, please write about yourself when you go to Khairagali. Babu Hari Ram stayed at the Dera for four days.

Fix your mind into the first Sound that comes before the Sound of the bell; then slowly, gently, focus the attention upwards and attach the mind to the Sound of the bell. Remember, however, to do your Simran beforehand. Do your Bhajan and Simran every day; please do as much as you can, but it must be done.
