Shabd is found within the body
The Shabd or Naam is heard and realized by research within the human body.
If one searches the township of the body1 through the Shabd, one gains the nine treasures of Naam2.
One who searches the village of the body, through the Shabd, obtains the nine treasures of the Naam.
Guru Amar Das –
Adi Granth, Ramkali M3, Ashtapadi, p. 910
It is by turning inwards and purifying the mind that the Lord is found.
By purifying the mind one crosses this world. This is done by reflecting on the quintessence of the self. They who serve the Master enjoy peace, and the Shabd pervades their inner self.
One who purifies his body, crosses over the terrifying world-ocean; he contemplates the essence of his own soul. Serving the Guru, he finds everlasting peace; deep within, the Shabd permeates him, coloring him with virtue.
Guru Nanak Dev –
Adi Granth, Ramkali M1, Ashtapadi, p. 908
Guru Nanak telling us about the location of the Shabd says that it can be heard beyond Ida, Pingla and Sushmana, through the Grace of the Master.
He knows Ida, Pingla and Sushmana. He sees for himself the Unseeable. Oh Nanak, the True Master takes him beyond them, He merges him in the Sound.
He understands the Sushmana, Ida and Pingala, when the unseen Lord reveals Himself. Oh Nanak! The True Lord is above these three energy channels. Through the Word, the Shabd of the True Guru, one merges with Him.
